What is Aadhaar?
Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identity number issued by UIDAI to residents of India, based on their biometric and demographic data. It serves as proof of identity and address across most government and financial services.
Eligibility
- Any resident of India, including infants and children
- NRIs with a valid Indian passport
- No minimum age — children under 5 get a Blue Aadhaar (Baal Aadhaar)
Documents Required
- Proof of Identity (PAN, Voter ID, Passport, Driving Licence)
- Proof of Address (utility bill, bank statement, ration card)
- Proof of Date of Birth (birth certificate, 10th marksheet)
Step-by-Step Process

Book an appointment
Locate the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra and book a slot online.

Visit the centre
Carry original documents for verification and biometric capture.

Biometric capture
Provide fingerprints, iris scan and a photograph.

Collect acknowledgement
Note the Enrolment ID (EID) to track your Aadhaar status.

Download e-Aadhaar
Once generated, download the e-Aadhaar PDF from the UIDAI portal.
