Selection Process
The Indian Navy SSC IT Jan 27 selection runs in three steps:
Application shortlisting based on normalised marks obtained in the qualifying degree. The normalisation formula is published on joinindiannavy.gov.in.
SSB Interview at the assigned SSB centre. Shortlisted candidates are informed by email or SMS to the contact details given in the application.
Medical Examination as per Indian Navy guidelines, followed by police and character verification.
Marks considered for shortlisting:
BE / B Tech candidates (completed or final year): marks obtained up to the 5th semester.
MSc / MCA / M Tech candidates who have completed the degree: marks of all semesters.
MSc / MCA / M Tech candidates in the final year: marks up to the pre-final year.
The final merit list is prepared on the basis of SSB marks. Candidates declared fit in the medical examination are appointed subject to police verification, character verification and availability of vacancies. Mere inclusion in the merit or select list does not confer a vested right of appointment. Change of SSB centre is not permitted under any circumstances. AC 3-tier rail fare is admissible for SSB interview, only if appearing for the first time for that type of commission.
Medical Standards
All SSB-recommended candidates undergo a Naval medical examination. There is no relaxation in medical standards on any ground and change of medical hospital or centre is not permitted. Detailed medical guidelines are available on joinindiannavy.gov.in.
Terms of Service
Tenure: Short Service Commission initially for 10 years, extendable by a maximum of 04 years in 02 terms of 02 years each, subject to service requirement, performance, medical eligibility and willingness.

Selected candidates are inducted in the rank of Sub Lieutenant.
